The Mac shelf

Twenty-five-odd years of Mac software that was actually good. Some of it is still shipping, some is a headstone with a download link. All of it earned shelf space by being used for real.

On the shelf

• Default Folder X — 25-year review. Fixes the worst dialog on your computer.
• DEVONtechnologies — DEVONthink and friends. Local AI before AI was a valuation.
• The Omni Group — The Omni Group. Thirty years of Cocoa productivity.
• OmniWeb — the dead one. Browser, pioneer, gone. Deserved better.

Filing rule

Mac software writeups live here instead of AI Software Reviews unless they're specifically about AI tooling. Same review structure applies; usage evidence required either way.

Fully dead stuff that nobody argues about anymore goes down the hall to Pepperidge Farm Remembers instead. This shelf still has opinions; that one has headstones.
